American Love

Happy Fourth of July!
My appreciation for the United States of America has increased immensely while living abroad for 2 years. Here is a short list of some serious and some silly reasons of why I am grateful to be an AMERICAN:
  1. 1.       Freedom of speech. The ability to say what you think and feel!
  2. 2.       The everyday conveniences. This ranges from a whole aisle of soaps to only going to one store to find your favorite chips!
  3. 3.        Ease and affordable communication. Being able to call/text family and friends that is dependable and not expensive!
  4. 4.       Slurpees. Thank you 7-eleven.
  5. 5.       Education. We have the opportunity to go to school and continue to learn throughout our entire lives. The schools we attend are some of the best in the world.
  6. 6.       Endless opportunities. You want to go to college? GO. You want to travel? GO. You want to open a business. DO IT. We have the ability to choose what we want to do and endless resources to get there.
  7. 7.       Land of plenty. America really has everything at our fingertips, I know I didn't always appreciate this.

These are just a few things that came to my mind as I celebrate another 4th of July in Belize. I hope all of you have a great day full of BBQs and swimming!

  1. Wow, good thoughts Erica. Thanks for the reminder of how well we have it in the GOOD young USA! You really don't appriciate something until it's no longer a part of your daily life!
