Hopkins

I have been fortunate enough to be able to travel around Belize a little these past few months. My first trip was to Hopkins Village. This is about 3 hours by bus north of PG (where I live). Tracy and I decided to take the weekend and travel up there. We were dropped off at the Hopkins junction, thinking that we were only 2 miles from the beach-WRONG. It was at least 6 miles, luckily a car drove past and we hitched a ride all the way in. It was a great weekend. We stayed in a little cabin in a garden. We rode bikes around. Hung out on the beach, and witnessed an awesome sunrise. When returning back to PG we waited at the junction for 3 hours-this is the longest I have had to wait for a bus so far.

Here is the cabin we stayed in. If I could give you a description I would say it is where Snow White lived with the seven dwarfs. There were bats in the bedroom, geckos, lizards, and insects of all sorts in the cabin. it was nice though tucked away in a garden right next to the water.

Tracy and I treated ourselves to a nice dinner on Halloween night. Halloween is not really celebrated in Belize but since more and more Belizeans are seeing American Culture kids are beginning to dress up and trick-or-treat. While sitting at dinner we had mobs of children come up and ask us for candy, most had masks made out of paper with holes for the eyes. haha

Here are the most amazing sunrise pictures. I honestly cannot believe I captured it with my camera. Tracy and I thought we were not going to be able to see the sunrise because of the clouds but it all of a sudden popped up. Breathtaking.

Here is the LARGEST jelly fish I have EVER seen! They were all over the beach when we were watching the sunrise. Some were turned over and had fish feeding under them.

Here is the FIRST double rainbow I have seen in my life. I turned around from watching the sunrise and saw this! What a morning. I have seen two rainbows since being in Belize for the past few months, pretty high average.
